Hello, everyone.

My name is Masanori Kikuzawa. I run a theatrical company named "The Theater GIGA, Space Production Company" in Fukuoka City, Japan. We have worked on our performances in terms of "space" . You can guess that we have special attention to space from our company's name. For example, we performed not only in a theater, but also in a hospital, dormitory, house, public hot spring, bar, gallery, and on the street. Our aim is to "rebirth" these spaces and make them more exciting.

These days, we plan to perform abroad. As a first step, we performed in a "Gemaul play festival" in　Ki-jan city, Korea 2004 and 2005. Our works were enthusiastically received by Korean. We also planned " The World Drama Festival " in Fukuoka city. In this festival, we worked together with the Korean theatrical company "Tokebi" and made a staging of "Yume jyuu ya" by Soseki Natsume, one of the greatest writers in Japan. This project was very successful.

In 2005, our director, Erica Yamada, won the highest prize in "Toga director contest 2005" run by Toyama prefecture. We have been invited to perform in the Shizuoka and Toyama prefectures in 2006 as well. She is the noted as one of the most remarkable of young directors.

Our actors are also very unique and energetic. For instance, Yu Teshima and myself played in the film "815" , which won a special prize at the competitive section in Vancouver International Film Festival.

We have done most of our productions on Kyushu Island. This island has very interesting culture thanks to its location. It is also located somewhat closer to other Asian countries compared to the other islands of Japan. We, "The Theater GIGA, Space Production Company" , are trying to conduct our plays in ways that differ from the dominant cultures that one may find in the Tokyo region.
